The first meeting of the project team responsible for launching the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Centre (JATEC), the first joint institution between NATO and Ukraine, took place in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, addressed the participants on the occasion of the first meeting.

She expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in the project, as well as to Poland for deciding to host this important initiative on its territory.

“I am happy to welcome the first event of the project team that will fill this new platform with working mechanisms, content, and joint activities. We see the Centre, along with the mechanisms of the NATO-Ukraine Council, as an additional structural element for our integration into the Alliance. Therefore, it is very important that JATEC is an effective institution, legally and practically integrated into the wider NATO structure,” Stefanishyna stressed.

She emphasized that JATEC, as a multi-year program, is an important component of NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package. It is necessary to provide adequate resource support for the Center’s work to ensure the realization of the ambitious aims set by the project initiators.

Stefanishyna urged the project team to focus on topical issues that will help find effective solutions in the security and defense sector, particularly in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression.

“Ukraine will benefit from any practical knowledge and experience that can help us protect people and ensure our own security, whether on land, in the sky, at sea, or in cyberspace. And the Centre we are launching is a platform for ongoing dialogue, exchange of knowledge and expertise, and a joint search for solutions,” Stefanishyna noted.

On February 15, Militarnyi reported on the creation of the JATEC center.

The NATO Secretary General emphasized that the joint center in Poland is necessary not only for Ukraine but also for NATO.

Stoltenberg did not disclose details about the center’s work, adding that it will facilitate the process of sharing experiences.
