The Pomsta (Revenge – ed.) Brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine forms the first Unmanned Strike Aviation Systems Company.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine noted that the Pomsta Brigade is one of the most effective units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Dmytro Oleksiuk, the Hero of Ukraine, has been entrusted with the formation of the Unmanned Strike Aviation Systems Company.
The Unmanned Strike Aviation Systems Company of the Pomsta Brigade will use a wide range of different aircraft and drones: FPV, night bombers, lightweight reconnaissance UAVs.
Lieutenant Colonel Dmytro Oleksiuk has been developing the UAV strike capability.
“His soldiers and drones helped to identify and destroy many military targets of the invaders, including stopping large-scale assaults, in which the enemy used infantry, tanks, and armored personnel carriers,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The backbone of the first Unmanned Strike Aviation Systems Company of the State Border Guard Service will be soldiers and commanders who have successful practical experience with UAVs.
The selection of specialists for this unit has now begun.
“We need UAV operators, engineers, sappers and people who want to learn the skills related to the combat use of UAVs and bring Ukraine’s victory closer in a motivated unit of a glorified brigade that brings revenge to the enemy,” the brigade said.
The border guards have been fighting since 2014. The 3rd Border Detachment has played an important role in protecting the state border and fighting Russian terrorists.
In January 2024, the 3rd Border Detachment named after the Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevgenii Pikus became a brigade and was named Pomsta Brigade.
In the spring, the Pomsta Brigade, consisting of border guards, was involved in the defense of the Ukrainian town of Chasiv Yar.
