A large amount of military equipment from the russia entered the Konotop district (Sumy region).

Militarnyi reports about this with reference to Dmytro Zhyvytsky, Head of Sumy Regional Military Administration.

Zhyvytskyi explains that the russians are forming a “corridor” for the departure of their units heading East from the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.

“They are very scared of the locals and our military, thus they are opening a chaotic fire against people who find themselves next to their equipment or along with the movement of columns”, wrote the Head of the RMA.

Previously, on March 29, 2022, the russians announced their intention to reduce the intensity of hostilities near Kyiv and Chernihiv. The reconnaissance had recorded the departure of ruscist units from Ukraine to the belarus back on March 28th.

From March 30th to April 1nd, 2022, several settlements in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions had been liberated. The russians are trying to retreat, but the Ukrainian military does not allow them to simply put back without losses and is inflicting fire damage upon them.

Russia has also introduced reserves that were formed throughout March, possibly to cover the exit of demoralized and depleted units through the Sumy region. After the regrouping and restoration of combat readiness, russia would want to use the withdrawn forces back in its priority Kharkiv direction, Donbas, and to make further attempts to capture the Ukrainian Black Sea coast.
