The Russian invaders crossed the Siverskyi Donets river near the village of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, but the Ukrainian troops have already destroyed their pontoon crossing.

This was announced today, May 9, on the air of Radio Svoboda by Serhii Haidai, Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, LIGA.net reports.

According to Sergii Haidai, the crossing of the Siverskyi Donets river could threaten with Russia potentially seizing control over the highway to Bakhmut.

Thus, the Russians could be able to cut off the cities of Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk.

“The next battles are happening in two directions. These are Rubizhne and Bilohorivka, the Lysychansk – Bakhmut highway. The enemy managed to build a pontoon crossing there yesterday, to transport a certain number of troops.

The combat lasted all night and is still ongoing, we have to wait how today will end,” said the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

This pontoon crossing over the Siverskyi Donets river has already been destroyed by the Ukrainian troops.

“The pontoon crossing has already been destroyed. A lot of equipment is lying there, some of it fell into the river,” Haidai said.

Previously, the Armed Forces of Ukraine crashed the pontoon crossing with the equipment of the Russian military in the Luhansk region.

The pontoon bridge was destroyed over the Siversky Donets River.

In the area of the crossing, various types of Russian military equipment were also disarmed.

For the first time, the clearance of two rare BMP-1AM “Basurmanin” of the Russian military was recorded. BMP-1AM “Basurmanin” is a Russian modernized version of the BMP-1, which was presented in 2018. It has a combat module from the BTR-82A armored personnel carrier.
