The Russian Orion tactical multi-purpose drone crashed into a timber warehouse in Taganrog, Rostov region.
Such a conclusion can be drawn based on video materials published by the Russian publication Mash.
Local governor Vasily Golubev confirmed the information about the drone crash. The accident caused a 200-square-meter fire, damaging the roof of the building and four cars.
It is reported that there were no deaths or injuries among the local population.
According to the released footage, the Russian drone was moving horizontally and rammed into the warehouse in the same position, after which a fire broke out.
The conclusion that this is an Orion drone can be made by storyboarding the published video footage, which shows the silhouette. Particular attention is drawn to the shape of the nose and its characteristic white color.
Photos of the drone’s wreckage were also released, further confirming that it was a Russian drone.
The explanation for the incident is quite simple: Taganrog has two military airfields, one of which is apparently where these drones are based.
According to local channels, a drone rammed into the building of the First Roofing Center.
The location was determined using the characteristic landmarks captured on the video: the color of the roof and the buildings in the neighborhood. The warehouse is located at Nikolayevskoye highway.
The warehouse is located directly on the route of planes based at the neighboring airport, where military transport aircraft are stationed.
It can be assumed that as a result of a malfunction during takeoff, the drone was unable to gain altitude and crashed into the warehouse.
