The Pentagon has announced its intention to demote and reduce the pension of Arizona Democratic Senator Mark Kelly, a former US Navy captain.

Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth wrote on X that Senator Kelly and his colleagues had distributed a “reckless and inflammatory video” that was intended to undermine military discipline, according to European Pravda.

The cited reason for his demotion was his words in a video message on November 18, where he called on the military to refuse to obey “illegal orders.”

Kelly himself, a former Navy pilot and astronaut who served for more than two decades and took part in combat operations, called the Pentagon’s actions “outrageous” and “un-American.”

“There is nothing more un-American than this,” the Senator wrote.

On his Facebook page, he stated that the Pentagon chief wants to intimidate retired military personnel by showing that any criticism could lead to persecution.

Kelly also called Pete Hegseth “the least qualified Secretary of Defense in US history” and emphasized that he would not allow himself to be intimidated.
