The Security Service of Ukraine detained another collaborator during stabilization measures in liberated Kherson.
While the city was under occupation, he was assisting the FSS in organizing the activities of the ‘local office’ of the Russian special service.
This invader institution, called the ‘state security service’, was to fulfill Moscow’s tasks to suppress the resistance movements and spread the Kremlin’s regime in the region.
It was established that the aggressor’s accomplice was looking for ‘like-minded people’, whom he offered to join the FSS ‘office’.
He was also involved in establishing the FSS’s human intelligence network, which was to carry out reconnaissance and sabotage in the south of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the traitor turned out to be a former local law enforcement officer who retired in 2010.
He came to the FSS’s attention before the full-scale invasion. Then, the Russians asked him to assist in collecting information on the socio-political situation in Kherson.
The traitor’s Russian curator reached out to the traitor after the temporary occupation of the regional center. With him, the accomplice later coordinated the criminal activities.
It has been established that he used his own connections among former employees of law enforcement agencies to find ‘candidates’ to the ranks of the moscow-controlled ‘state security service’.
The aggressor promised him a leading ‘position’ in the invaders’ pseudo-agency for collaboration.
After the liberation of the city, he was trying to lay low to avoid justice. However, the Security Service of Ukraine employees located and detained him.
So far, SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of committing a crime, and the court chose custody as a measure of restraint.
