The Netherlands will allocate €60 million for Ukraine to purchase drones for various purposes.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense reported that the amount is intended, among other things, for naval drones.

Within the announced assistance package, the Netherlands is allocating €20 million for the purchase of FPV drones through the International Drone Coalition.

Another €17.5 million was earmarked for the purchase of naval drones.

The rest of the money will be used for bilateral drone supplies and the purchase of unmanned systems from the Dutch industry.

“These high-tech innovations are also important for the Netherlands. For joint sectoral cooperation and as lessons for our own armed forces,” Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren shared, summarizing her visit to Ukraine.

They emphasize that drones play an important role in the war between Ukraine and Russia.

They are an effective complement to other, more traditional weapons systems.

“Naval drones, the so-called unmanned surface vehicles, are successfully operating in the Black Sea. Ukraine can produce this type of drone in its own country, so the Netherlands is also stimulating local business with this financial contribution,” the statement reads.

Ukraine has launched active production of Sea Baby naval drones, capable of carrying a wide range of weapons. The naval drone was built for the Ukrainian Defense Forces as part of the UNITED24 initiative.

They can carry 850 kilograms of explosives, accelerate to 90 km/h, and cover a distance of 1000 kilometers.

In May, the Ukrainian Defense Forces used a naval drone to hit the Russian positions on the sand spit in the Mykolaiv region.
