The Netherlands provided Ukraine with over €1 billion in military aid.
Kajsa Ollongren, Minister of Defense, stated this in her address to the country’s parliament.
It is reported that the Netherlands has provided Ukraine with 1.07 billion euros worth of military aid.
The symbolic milestone of one billion euros was reached in the past six weeks.
The Head of the Defense Department shares with parliamentarians a monthly update regarding the assistance provided to Ukraine, which is needed to resist the Russian invasion.
Prior to Monday, the last update was sent on December 16, when the total amount of military support was 987 million euros. Approximately half of the contributions were in the form of weapons and equipment.
This amount refers to the book value of the equipment supplied to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
At the end of January, it was reported that the Netherlands would consider the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
However, Prime Minister Mark Rutte shared at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron that no such request had been received from Ukraine at that time.
The Netherlands is armed with F-16AM/BM fighter jets, which are gradually being replaced by new fifth-generation F-35A combat aircraft.
Moreover, Ukraine will receive two Patriot launchers and missiles for them from the Netherlands. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive spare parts for Patriot SAM maintenance.
The Netherlands became the third country after the United States and Germany to provide Ukraine with long-range air defense systems. During 2023, the Dutch military will also train hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers. Also, the Netherlands could transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
