The Netherlands is assessing whether to supply additional heavy weapons to Ukraine.
Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the country, announced this on Twitter on May 4.
Rutte made this statement after a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Just spoke with President Zelensky and praised Ukraine’s steadfastness in the battle for Donbas,” Rutte wrote.

The Prime Minister assured that the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine’s fight to defend democracy and sovereignty, in the short and long term.
“The Netherlands is assessing whether it can join with a.o. Germany, Belgium, and the UK to supply more heavy weapons,” wrote the Dutch prime minister.
Mark Rutte also added that the Netherlands is sending a forensic investigation team to Ukraine to gather evidence for war crime investigations and criminal proceedings.
Back in April, the reports were claiming that the Government of the Netherlands intends to hand over the 155-mm PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
Germany would in turn be providing Ukraine with 155-mm ammunition and will offer training for heavy artillery.
PzH-2000 is a 155-mm closed-type gun on a crawler chassis, built on the basis of components and units of the “Leopard-2” tank.
For firing, separate-loading rounds are being used in the NATO countries’ armies. Equipped with a muzzle brake and ejector, the gun barrel with a rifled channel has a length of 52 calibers and is equipped with a charging chamber.
