The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland reported that the missile which landed in the territory of the country was Russian-made.
The relevant statement was released on the Polish government’s website.
“At 3:40 p.m., a Russian-made missile hit the village of Przewodów, Hrubeszów County, Lublin Voivodeship, as a result of which two citizens of the Republic of Poland were killed,” the report said.
Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to provide an explanation for the situation.
At the same time, Andrzej Duda, President of Poland, announced on the night of November 16 that there is no information about who launched the missile. However, he confirmed that the missile was of Russian production.
“The investigation will be joint. At the moment, we have no evidence of who fired the missile. It was a Russian-made missile, but the investigation is ongoing,” he said.
At the same time, CNN reported that a NATO aircraft flying above Polish airspace tracked the missile that landed in the village of Przewodów.
An Alliance military official shared this with the newspaper.
“Intel with the radar tracks [of the missile] was provided to NATO and Poland,” the NATO military official added.
They also added that NATO aircraft have been conducting regular surveillance around Ukraine since the Russian invasion began.
As previously reported, during a massive missile attack on the territory of Ukraine on November 15, an explosion occurred in the territory of the village of Przewodów in Poland. Subsequently, two people died.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has called an urgent meeting of a Committee for National Security and Defense Affairs.
Subsequently, Piotr Müller, a Spokesman of the Polish government, announced that a decision to increase the combat readiness of some military units was made.
He also reported that the government is studying the existence of grounds for launching the procedures provided for in Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
It provides that the parties “will hold joint consultations when, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened.”
