Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, suggests launching a special program for Russian soldiers who no longer wish to fight in Ukraine.
The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated this in his comment to Reuters.
Within the program, Russian soldiers are offered to lay down their arms in exchange for “the opportunity to start a new life.”
“(The message): save yourself and leave. Lay down arms, surrender to Ukrainian forces, and get an opportunity to start a new life,” Kuleba said.
The diplomat noted that if at least one Russian soldier lays down his arms, it means Ukrainian lives were saved.
“I am confident that this offer is worth making because even if one Russian soldier lays down arms and decides to leave, it means saved Ukrainian lives and closer peace,” Kuleba said.
Also, the Minister once again called on the European Union to ban issuing visas to Russian tourists.
According to Dmytro Kuleba, this measure is expedient because the majority of the Russian Federation citizens supported “Russia’s genocidal war of aggression” against Ukraine.
As previously reported, Russia will be increasing its Armed Forces staff in 2023.
The size of the Russian Armed Forces will be increased by 137,000 people and will become 1,150 million servicemen. The total staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is set at a level of 2,039 million people.
Ben Wallace, Head of the British Ministry of Defense, stated that during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian losses totaled over 80,000 military personnel.
This total number of casualties in Ukraine includes neutralized and wounded invaders, as well as deserters.
