The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and authorized about 20 models of tractor-trailers and tractors.

This is stated on the Defense Ministry’s website.

This has happened since the beginning of the large-scale invasion by the Russian armed forces in February 2022.

It should be noted that these are units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that are subordinated to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russia, the Ministry of Defense has codified and authorized about two dozen items of specialized automotive equipment and vehicles designed to transport large-sized and heavy-tonnage cargo for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” they wrote in a statement.

The equipment includes items manufactured by automotive concerns from the United States, the European Union, and Asian countries, as well as domestically produced ones.

The vehicles were both donated as part of the material and technical assistance and purchased by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The vehicles are truck trailers (heavy-duty transport semi-trailers), truck tractors, and conventional truck tractors.

The use of trailers and tractor units is necessary to ensure the transportation of various types of weapons and military equipment:

• tanks
• self-propelled artillery systems
• armored combat vehicles
• other bulky cargo; military supplies, etc.

The use of special vehicles for transporting bulky goods allows troops to quickly move armored vehicles and other heavy equipment from one point to another if necessary. This method of logistics allows, among other things, to save the valuable own motor resources of heavy armored vehicles. In addition, heavy vehicles ensure reliable delivery of damaged armor to repair bases.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense has authorized nearly 40 armored vehicles for use.
