М113 armored personnel carriers had arrived in Ukraine from Lithuania.
This was announced by Arvydas Anušauskas, Minister of Defense of Lithuania.
Armored vehicles are assigned for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in defending in the face of full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation.
“M113 already reached the battlefield in Ukraine to protect the lives of Ukrainian soldiers,” he wrote on his Twitter.
Recently, Lithuania has transferred trucks and SUVs to Ukraine as a part of military assistance.
Back then, Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas stated that in the near future, the Defense Forces of Ukraine would be receiving 20 М113 tracked armored personnel carriers from the Lithuanians.
Anušauskas also said that the Lithuanians named the Bayraktar TB2 UAV, for which they’ve collected EUR 5 million worth of donations.
“Lithuanians have picked a name for the Bayraktar, which was an object of their donations in order to support Ukraine. It will be named “Vanagas” (“Hawk” in English or “Яструб” in Ukrainian),” the statement reads.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense assured that the country “makes every effort to support the statehood and independence of Ukraine, has supported and will support Ukraine in all possible ways, including military, financial, humanitarian, and other necessary assistance.”
Open sources suggest that Lithuania has over 200 M113 armored personnel carriers, including the ones with M113A1 modification.
The М113 light multi-role tracked armored personnel carrier was initially armed with a 12.7-millimeter machine gun and equipped with a gasoline engine. It was later retrofitted several times.
Its crew consists of two people: a driver and a commander. М113 is able to carry an assault unit of up to 11 people, as well as serve as the basis for several dozen specialized vehicles.
