Dmytro Zhyvytsky, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on the situation as of 2 p.m. on May 17. The invaders were shelling the territory of the Sumy region from Russia.
Five shots were recorded in the area of the settlement of Esman.
About 70 explosions – in the direction of Boyaro-Lezhachi. Another six explosions – in the area of Sopych.
Dmytro Zhyvytsky also added that the battle continues in the north of the Shostka district.
“The battle continues in the north of the Shostka district. There is an attempt to break through the state border in the area of Seredyno-Buda,” he said.
Caused by shelling, the fires broke out along the border.
On the dawn of May 17, Russian troops launched a missile strike on the town of Okhtyrka in the Sumy region. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, five Russian missiles struck peaceful civilian facilities. Warehouses were set on fire, and residential buildings were damaged. The central part of the town was hit. At least five people were injured.
Previously, the enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group was trying to break through in the Sumy region.
