The enemy is keeping its troops on the territory bordering Ukraine. At the same time, no special changes in composition and equipment were recorded.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this in its November 20 morning briefing.
“In the Volyn, Polissia, and Sivershchyna directions, the situation has not changed significantly. There are no signs of forming the offensive groups,” the report said.
It is emphasized that the enemy is keeping its units in the border areas of the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Therefore, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine notes that the invaders might attempt to commit armed provocations.
“It is not excluded that the enemy might attempt committing armed provocations at the state border, with its sabotage and reconnaissance groups attempting incursion into Ukraine from Russia and Belarus,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated.
In the Slobozhanshchyna direction, in the areas bordering the Belgorod region, the enemy continues covering the Russian-Ukrainian border with its units. The enemy used mortars to shell the area of the village of Starytsia, Kharkiv region.
As previously reported, the invaders continue replenishing the ranks of their units. Specifically, PMC “Wagner” is doing so at the expense of imprisoned men serving their sentences. Thus, yesterday, journalists noted that the number of prisoners in the Russian Federation had sharply decreased.
At the beginning of September, almost 348,000 people were kept in Russian colonies. At the beginning of October, this number decreased to 338,000 and to 325,000 at the beginning of November.
It is assumed that this is the result of a recruitment campaign to involve prisoners in combat operations.
As early as August of this year, it was reported that the so-called PMC Wagner began recruiting Russian prisoners into its formations. Later, the public was presented with a video of Yevgeny Prigozhin, owner of Wagner PMC, personally recruiting prisoners in Russia for the war in Ukraine. Convicts were offered amnesty after half a year of service, along with a monetary reward.
