The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine entered the village of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi in the Kharkiv region.
The settlement was first mentioned in that regard in the summary of the General Staff for Monday, September 26.
That summary reported that Russian troops shelled a number of settlements in the Slobozhansk direction.
Those mentioned included three settlements – Kupiansk suburbs – liberated from the Russian invaders on the left bank of the Oskil River: the villages of Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi.
Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi is a large village where the railway station with the same name is located. It is a large railway hub that provides rail connections with Kharkiv, Valuyki, Sviatohirsk, Belgorod, Popasna, and Kupiansk-Pivdennyi stations.
Russia was previously using the station’s railway infrastructure to transfer its forces from the Belgorod region to the temporarily occupied territory of the eastern regions of Ukraine.
Controlling the settlements adjacent to Kupiansk ensures the continuation of the liberation movement of the occupied Luhansk region.
The Russian military had occupied the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region on February 27, 2022.
On September 10, the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed the liberation of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region from Russian occupation.
The SSU released photos capturing the Special Group “Alpha” operators in Kupiansk and stated that the city was and would always be Ukrainian.
Ukrainian fighters from the 1st Battalion of the 92nd Brigade raised the national flag over the Kupiansk city council.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are continuing their counter-offensive actions to cut off the Russian troops from their strategic logistics centers.
