For the first time, a Russian invader born in 2007 has been killed in the war against Ukraine.
The Russian media Astra reported on this.
The individual was 18-year-old Alexander Petlinsky from Chelyabinsk. He was a student at the local medical college.
He was killed on March 9, 2025. The announcement of his death was published on the page of the Russian youth propaganda organization “Movement of the First” on the social media platform banned in Ukraine.
The propagandists have not offered almost any details about his death, nor about how Petlinsky ended up in the military and made his way to the front line.
It is only mentioned that he died “while performing his military duty.”
Petlinsky, who was born on January 31, 2007, became one of the youngest Russian servicemen to die in the war with Ukraine.
At the start of the Russian full-scale invasion, he was only 15 years old.
The Goryushko project, by analyzing posts from relatives of the deceased on social media and obituaries in the media, confirmed the death of 100,000 Russian soldiers as of February 24, 2025.
Since the onset of the Russian invasion, volunteers from the project have been diligently tracking data on the deaths of Russian soldiers, organizing information from Russian officials and media, as well as reports from the families and colleagues of the fallen, often accompanied by photos of their graves.
The volunteers focus solely on active members of Russia’s security forces who were killed in the occupied territories of Ukraine or as a result of the actions of Ukrainian Defense Forces on Russian territory, including members of the Wagner PMC holding Russian passports.
In several regions of Russia, reports of illegal dumping of zinc coffins have become increasingly common. Those coffins had been initially meant to transport the bodies of fallen Russian soldiers.
