Today, the countries of the European Union will approve the decision to start a training mission for the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is reported by European Pravda with reference to the words of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell.

According to him, the new military mission for Ukraine will start working in a few weeks. It was previously reported that EU to train 15,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the training mission, but now a different number has been declared.

“Today is an important decision regarding the start of a training mission for the Ukrainian army. As you know, we decided to start this mission in record time, and it will start working in a couple of weeks,” Borrell said.

He said that the mission would be located in Poland, involving training of approximately 50,000 Ukrainian soldiers. Different countries take part in this mission.

“We must continue to support Ukraine – both military and economic, increasing the pressure on Russia. We will discuss the volume of our military aid, which is greater than some media reports,” Borrell added.

Previously, the ministers of foreign affairs of the European Union approved the creation of the EUMAM training military mission for Ukraine. The decision was made at the meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers on October 17.

Instead of a single training center in the countries of the European Union, separate training courses by specialty should be organized.

The commander of the mission will be Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean, Director General of the European Union Military Staff.

The mission will initially last for two years, and the financial reference for the total expenditure for this period will reach €106,700,000. The operational headquarters of this training military will be deployed in Brussels.

The mission will ensure coordination with bilateral measures of member states in support of Ukraine, as well as with other international partners and will be open to the participation of third states.

Poland will be one of the countries on whose territory the Ukrainian military will be trained as part of this mission. Also, it is planned to create a headquarters of a training mission in Poland.
