The Come Back Alive Foundation purchased a Spartan armored personnel carrier and a fuel tank for the mechanized brigade fighting in the Kharkiv region.

The Foundation’s press service announced this.

“This unit of the Defense Forces of Ukraine is one of those that defend the Kharkiv region from the Russians. And now the specialized equipment will assist them in this: the KRAZ Spartan armored vehicle and a Ukrainian-made fuel tank,” the Foundation reported.

The total value of both purchased vehicles for the newly created mechanized brigade is UAH 15,130,000. Of them, UAH 10,230,000 are the cost of an armored vehicle, and UAH 4,900,000 are the cost of a gas station.

Both vehicles were manufactured by the Kremenchuk Automobile Plant before the Russian invasion, so the Foundation purchased them from the stock.

KRAZ Spartan

KrAZ has been producing Spartan vehicles on the chassis of the Ford F550 SUV under license from the Canadian company Streit Group since 2014.

The vehicle is equipped with an armored body, bulletproof windows, and a mine-protected bottom. The vehicle complies with the CEN Level BR6 standard, which provides protection against firing with 7.62×51 NATO caliber cartridges from 30 meters.

There is also a recorded case of a vehicle hitting an anti-tank mine: the entire crew survived and remained unharmed.

The vehicle that the Foundation purchased is equipped with a protected turret for a large-caliber machine gun or an automatic grenade launcher.

Spartan weighs nine tons and can reach speeds of up to 110 km/h. It is designed to carry two crew members and six passengers.

As previously reported, in March last year, the company AvtoKrAZ handed over armored vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine free of charge.

Roman Cherniak, CEO of AvtoKrAz, explained that Spartan and Shrek military armored vehicles with a total cost of about $1 million were handed over to the military.
