Saab UK has supplied the British Army with the latest Arthur counter-battery radar to replace the older MAMBA model.
This is reported on the official Saab website.
Saab has supplied the British Army with a total of five sets of Arthur counter-battery radars, which will replace the older MAMBA model.
In addition, the order was designed to cover one set of MAMBA radar systems, which was also transferred to the British Army.
The official ceremony of acceptance of the new systems into the British Army took place on June 24, 2024, at Camp Larkhill, where they joined the 5th Royal Artillery Regiment.
‘We are immensely proud to support the British Army with our state-of-the-art TAIPAN systems. Our relationship with the Army and the Arthur system builds on years of experience extending back through service in Iraq and Afghanistan. The team at Saab looks forward to continuing our support for the UK as it becomes the first user of the new Arthur current generation and next generation systems,’ Andy Fraser, Managing Director of Saab UK, stated.
The British Army is currently renewing its artillery fleet and is procuring modern RCH155 artillery systems, as well as the latest Taipan counter-battery systems and related equipment.
‘Saab is our key partner for both MAMBA and now TAIPAN, and what it as a company has and continues to deliver to our Armed Forces is hugely impressive. MAMBA has more than proved its worth, and TAIPAN is a step change in capability,’ Lt Gen Sir Andrew Gregory shared.
