The Armed Forces of Ukraine trained to counter an attack on the Chornobyl exclusion zone

Training of the Defense Forces of Ukraine took place in the Kyiv region. The military was preparing to protect the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant from a possible attack from the territory of Belarus.

These maneuvers are part of the “Oxymoron-2023” exercises to protect and defend particularly important critical infrastructure facilities.

This is one of the components of the general training program of the Ukrainian military, and such training happens on a constant basis.

The primary goal of the “Oxymoron-2023” exercise is to acquire and enhance the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other units of the security and defense forces.

In particular, the Defense Forces conducted exercises in the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, near the Belarusian border.

The maneuvers took place under the overall leadership of Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Compared to last year, our grouping in the northern direction has been significantly strengthened. Firstly, the number of troops has significantly changed, and secondly, their equipment. All of this allows to say that the situation is now fully under control,” Nayev said.

According to legend, the Ukrainian military fought back a possible enemy attack and prevented the deployment of a tactical landing force near a critical infrastructure facility.

According to the Joint Forces Commander, the threat from the north is minimal today. In addition, the military has implemented a number of complexes and measures that make it impossible for enemy forces to cross the border.

Tanks and other armored vehicles, along with artillery and mortars, were involved in the exercises.

According to the General Staff, the military used, among other things, the equipment and weapons provided to Ukraine as part of the material and technical assistance from partner countries.

Also, starting February 21 and over the next few days, the grouping of forces and means of defense of Kyiv is conducting exercises to defend the capital, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.
