The Ukrainian military took Russian positions near Horlivka, which invaders controlled for many years.

Footage of the assault on these positions was shown by the Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The assault was carried out by soldiers of the 225th Assault Battalion.

For supporting the assault actions, Western 155mm artillery was involved, which used cluster ammunition against the Russian infantry.

Strike drones also engaged, which adjusted artillery fire, dropped explosives on the enemy and controlled the operation.

The Ukrainian command conducted an assault operation in the dark.

Thanks to thermal imagers on drones, the command was more convenient to control the course of the combat operation.

This position of invaders is located west of the city of Horlivka in the Donetsk region.

Russian invasion forces controlled this area even before the full-scale invasion.

It is worth recalling that it is not the first time that Ukrainian forces try to advance in the Horlivka area. In December last year, the Ukrainian military took control a spoil tip in the Horlivka area in the Donetsk region, but then left it.

The large industrial city of Horlivka has been under Russian occupation since spring 2014.

Large railway and road routes pass between occupied cities through Horlivka. Another important feature of Horlivka is actually a part of the large agglomeration of Donetsk, Makiivka and Yenakijeve, which are also under occupation.
