In the Luhansk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian position where the Pantsir-S1 air defense system was on duty.

A video of the Russian military from the destroyed position was posted on the Dosye_shpiona Telegram Channel.

It is reported that the strike was carried out using American M142 HIMARS missile systems, which hit the position on June 10.

The MRL managed to destroy a 72V6 combat vehicle of the 96K6 Pantsir-S1 system.

The Ukrainian military managed to wound and eliminate part of the air defense system crew.

The crew members included:

• Bariev Denis Andreevich, senior lieutenant, commander, wounded;
• Gertius Andrei Anatolyevich, senior sergeant, operator, died;
• Gusarov Igor Valerievich, senior sergeant, driver, died.

“The SAM belonged to a unit of the 1st Special Purpose Air and Missile Defense Army,” the report said.

The Pantsir-S1 was developed in Russia to destroy modern and advanced weapons used in air attacks.

The combat vehicle has been in service since 2008. The system’s main armament is two twin 30-mm 2A38M cannons and 12 57E6-E two-stage solid-fuel anti-aircraft missiles.

The destroyed 72V6 combat vehicle of the 96K6 Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system was supposed to cover the frontline from Ukrainian drones and HIMARS shells.

Since 2022, Ukraine’s defense forces have been actively targeting these systems using various means, including drones.

In January of this year, Ukrainian drones hit two Russian Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems in the Belgorod region.
