Soldiers of the 42nd Mechanized Brigade destroyed a Russian Tor surface-to-air missile system.
Volunteer and blogger Serhii Sternenko published a video of the moment of the attack.
The Russian system was struck by an FPV drone that hit the target while the system was moving.
Perun unit crews detected and successfully neutralized the system when it was not deployed in a combat position.
The losses of Russian Tor SAM systems have recently increased significantly due to the active use of these systems near the front line and the capabilities of Ukrainian FPV drones flying deep into the Russian rear.
The use of FPV drones behind enemy lines allows the defense forces to detect these systems both in combat positions and during their movement.
In general, the Tor missile system has become a typical target for drone operators, as well as for the Defense Forces’ artillery, which has already destroyed more than 65 units of this system.
Such frequent use of this type of SAM is due to its relative mobility, vertical missile launch, rapid response, and impressive ammunition. Depending on the modification, the Tor is equipped with 8 9M331 missiles (Tor-M1) or 16 9M338K missiles (Tor-M2).
The Tor-M2U SAM (Surface-to-Air Missile) system uses a radio-command missile guidance principle.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian Tor surface-to-air missile system using the Switchblade 600 loitering munition.
The 14th Separate UAV Regiment defeated the Tor together with the Security Service of Ukraine.
The operators of the FPV drones of the Achilles Battalion of the 92nd Assault Brigade also destroyed an enemy Tor air defense system.
