At least 94 people have been killed in clashes on the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border.
BBC reported about this.
Late on Sunday, Bishkek reported an additional 13 deaths, taking its total death toll to 59. It added that more than 100 people had been injured.
Tajikistan said that as a result of the escalation of the conflict, 35 of its citizens had been killed, and at least 20 had been injured.
In addition, Kyrgyzstan said some 137,000 people had been evacuated from the conflict area. Kyrgyz media said on Sunday that some people had already started returning to their homes.
Tajikistan has not reported any mass evacuations.
Clashes on the border between the two Central Asian countries broke out on September 14, and on September 16 the situation escalated.
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have blamed each other of using tanks, mortars, rocket artillery and drones.
It was reported that Tajikistan struck the airfield and the outskirts of the Kyrgyz city of Batken.
In response, Kyrgyzstan fired at the Tajik border posts “Lyakkan” and “Bogdari”.
Under international pressure, the parties signed a cease-fire agreement on Friday and the ceasefire was upheld despite claims of shelling from both sides.
Neighbouring countries are in conflict due to disputes over territories and water resources. The length of the border of Kyrgyzstan with Tajikistan reaches 970 kilometres, 519 of them are specified, and the rest remain undemarcated. Areas between the Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and the Sughd region of Tajikistan remain disputed, where villages and sometimes houses of residents of the two republics are located next to each other, making it difficult to determine the border line.
