Taiwan has deployed its Navy, Air Force and coastal defense systems in response to China’s drills.

In his address, Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te stated that China “has no right to represent Taiwan” and reiterated that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are “not subordinate” to each other.

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense reported that as of Monday, October 14, it had tracked 125 Chinese military aircraft and 34 coast guard ships and vessels operating around Taiwan.

In response to China’s drills, Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced that it had deployed warships, fighter jets, UAVs, and mobile anti-ship missile batteries.

The country has deployed Oliver Hazard Perry and Kang Ding class frigates to monitor the ships of the People’s Liberation Army of China.

In addition, NCSIST Albatross UAVs and F-16 fighters were deployed for aerial surveillance.

The Defense Ministry spokesman, Sun Li-Fan, told the media that although China has already announced the completion of the drills, the island’s military will remain on high alert.

He emphasized that the country’s armed forces will remain vigilant, despite China’s warships and aircraft having left the waters and airspace around Taiwan.

It should be noted that some of the Chinese coast guard ships remained in the area.

Joint Sword 2024B

On October 14, 2024, Militarnyi reported on the start of China’s Joint Sword 2024B military exercises to practice offensive actions around Taiwan.

As part of the operation, China deployed the Liaoning aircraft carrier group to conduct joint exercises with the army, navy, air force, and missile forces.

According to the official report, troops of various types will focus on patrolling the sea and airspace, practicing blockading key ports and areas of the island, and assaulting sea and land targets.
