A tank unit has been formed as part of the Liut (Rage – ed.) Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs showed a video with tanks on its social networks.
According to the footage, the brigade was armed with modernized T-64BV main battle tanks of the 2017 model.
The Liut Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine said the tank unit was ready to perform its first combat missions at the front.
The military unit also released a video of the combat training of tank crews before battles with Russian invaders.
T-64BV tanks are the backbone of the Ukrainian army’s tank units. It is a modification of the Soviet-era main battle tank T-64. The vehicle was produced from 1984 to 1987. This model received, among other things, the Kontakt dynamic protection to enhance armor protection. Before the full-scale invasion, Ukraine modernized these tanks, in particular, to the T-64BV model of 2017.
The tank received enhanced combat capabilities through a thermal imaging sight, new advanced dynamic protection, a new digital radio, modern night vision devices with a third-generation electronic-optical converter, and other upgrades.
Previously, Oncilla armored personnel carriers were put in service with the Liut Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine.
The brigade said that these wheeled vehicles were suitable for storming the positions of Russian invaders.
The Oncilla armored fighting vehicle is a licensed version of a Ukrainian-designed armored vehicle called Dozor-B, produced by the Polish company Mista.
Oncilla can be equipped with a light remote weapon station with a heavy machine gun or a conventional turret for machine guns.
Information on the sale of a license to produce a Dozor-B armored vehicle to the Polish company Mista was first announced in 2013. In the same year, a variant of Dozor-B called Oncilla was presented at the MSPO-2013 arms exhibition in Poland.
