The Swedish government will provide a financial package to support Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The Swedish government reported on this.
The payments will be made by the Swedish Armed Forces in the total amount of €28 million.
These funds will be used primarily to support Ukraine and as financial support for various aid coalitions.
Of the total amount, €18 million will be transferred to three coalitions raising funds to support Ukraine in various areas.
The funds will be allocated to those organizations of which Sweden is a member. First of all, €5 million will go to the coalition for demining the territory of Ukraine.
Within this group, Ukraine will be able to receive the necessary amount of special equipment for demining, and training for Ukrainian sappers will be funded.
Also, three million euros will be allocated to the Maritime Coalition, which is to strengthen the Navy’s ability to patrol territorial waters and improve surveillance and control capabilities.
The largest contribution of €10 million will be made to the coalition of drones, as the Swedish Ministry of Defense is very well aware that their presence in sufficient numbers helps the country to deter the enemy.
The money will also be used to train more drone operators.
Funding is provided through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG).
An additional €10 million will be transferred to the NATO Fund for Ukraine, which is used to purchase fuel, medical equipment, military training equipment, and general support for the country’s defense.
Militarnyi previously reported that EU countries will be able to purchase Ukrainian-made weapons for Ukraine with funds from the European Peace Fund.
