The Swedish government will allocate an additional €63 million for military aid to Ukraine.
This was stated in a press release on the Swedish Government’s website on October 28.
Part of these funds, namely €20 million, will be used to support Ukraine’s defense industry.
The funding will be provided under the Danish model, aimed at purchasing weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers in accordance with the proposals and requirements of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In addition, the Swedish government intends to allocate about €43 million for a number of multilateral initiatives to provide rapid and effective support to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
These funds are planned to support the coalitions created within the framework of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.
Examples of initiatives that could be supported include:
In addition, as part of this assistance, Sweden will also contribute to NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine, which includes the purchase of military equipment.
In early October, Sweden allocated €2.4 million to Ukraine to investigate war crimes committed by the Russian invaders.
The funds will be used to improve the digital infrastructure of justice and judicial proceedings in Ukraine, allowing for more efficient prosecution of war crimes.
This May, it was reported that the Swedish army would transfer all of its Pansarbandvagn 302 (Pbv 302) armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, along with spare parts, maintenance equipment, and ammunition.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has already authorized the delivery of these armored personnel carriers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In October, a train with Swedish Pbv 302s was spotted in the Czech Republic.
