Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson announced that the Swedish government will provide a new aid package to Ukraine.
She said this during a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Stockholm, Europeyska Pravda writes.
The total amount of new military aid is one billion Swedish crowns (about $100 million).
“We cannot allow Russia to win this unjust and unjustified war. You defend yourself and your country, but you also defend our shared European values and the rules-based international order,” Andersson said.
“It is our honor and duty to support you. Therefore, my government will provide Ukraine with a new aid package in the amount of one billion Swedish crowns, that is, approximately $100 million,” she said.
According to the Prime Minister, half of the package is military aid for Ukraine, which includes the weapons requested by the Ukrainian government.
“The second part is aimed at supporting the Ukrainian economy, stability and recovery,” she added.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called on the Swedish government to provide more weapons to Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion.
According to him, Ukraine is asking Sweden to provide Archer self-propelled gun system, RBS 70 MANPADS, additional ammunition for artillery.
“No matter how strange it sounds, the best way to save human lives, including the lives of civilians, and more Ukrainian cities from destruction, is to provide Ukraine with more weapons to resist Russian aggression,” Kuleba added.
As previously reported, Sweden will send its instructors to the UK, where they will participate in the training of members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Swedish Ministry of Defence shared that 120 instructors will join the training team.
