The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration is studying the possibility of sending military advisers to Ukraine in order to deepen cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Following a decision by the Swedish government, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, FMV, will launch a study on sending military advisors to Ukraine to help resolve defense procurement issues between the two countries.

This step will increase support for Ukraine and provide a permanent channel of communication between certain agencies aimed at the defense cooperation.

“We have provided significant military support to Ukraine, and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration plays an important role in making decisions on weapons deliveries,” Jonson said.

To date, Sweden has provided Ukraine with 16 military aid packages worth $1.3 billion, including a variety of military equipment.

Additional work for the agency will also include studying the experience of operating the transferred equipment, as well as analyzing and studying how this equipment performed in combat.

According to the Defense Minister, Sweden’s weapons stockpile is now minimal, so the agency should study what kind of equipment Sweden can produce to transfer to Ukraine in the future.

As part of military aid packages, the Swedish government has donated Strv 122 (Leopard 2A5) main battle tanks, CV90 infantry fighting vehicles, Archer self-propelled artillery systems, and announced the transfer of Pbv402 tracked armored personnel carriers, new all-terrain vehicles and other equipment to Ukraine.

In addition, Sweden has ordered about 1,000 CV90 combat vehicles for Ukraine, which will be produced at facilities in Sweden and the Netherlands and delivered to Ukraine.

Ukraine is expected to receive the first vehicles from the Netherlands in 2026, which will also be manufactured in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands is investing more than €400 million in a Swedish fund to ensure the production of CV90 combat vehicles for Ukraine.
