At least one Su-34 fighter-bomber was destroyed and several others damaged in a drone attack on the Russian Marinovka military air base.
This is evidenced by satellite images and published photos from the scene.
This military air base of the Russian Federation was attacked on the night of Thursday, August 22. It is located in the Volgograd oblast.
The satellite images of the Russian military facility were posted by OSINT analyst M.T. Anderson on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The images show the destruction and damage to several aircraft hangars and an ammunition depot.
There is also destruction and damage to other facilities on the Russian military air base.
OSINT analysts of the CyberBoroshno Telegram channel analysed photos and determined that at least one Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber was destroyed and at least one was damaged in hangars at the Marinovka military air base.
However, photos from the scene, which later appeared on social media, also show other damaged hangars with several aircraft inside.
Therefore, it is likely that there may be at least three damaged aircraft, not including the one that was destroyed.
At this air base, the Russians started constructing hangars to shield their aircraft from attack drones and missiles equipped with cluster warheads.
The shelter is intended for Su-24 bombers and Su-34 fighter-bombers based at this air base.
According to open sources, the 11th Composite Aviation Regiment, formed in 2015 on the basis of the 2nd Aviation Squadron, is based at the air base. The regiment includes a reconnaissance squadron flying Su-24MR aircraft and a bombing squadron flying Su-24M aircraft.
