The Air Force of Ukraine could receive the strike aircraft from the countries that are helping to resist the Russian aggression.
Journalist Jack Detsch reported about this in the American magazine Foreign Policy.
The journalist announced this after visiting the Major Nerve Center in Europe responsible for shipping the military aid to Ukraine from different countries.
This regards not only Su-25 jet aircraft but also Mi-17 multi-purpose transport helicopters.
“A team in the field in Eastern Europe connected to European Command has helped disassemble Soviet-era Su-25 “Frogfoot” aircraft and Mi-17 helicopters so they can be shipped to Ukraine,” Jack Detsch wrote.
The journalist did not provide any details about the time and number of aircraft that were transferred.
All such information that concerns the transfer of equipment and weapons is kept secret.
On May 16, it was reported that three Mi-17 helicopters from the United States were already transferred to Ukraine and are serving in the combat missions. It was emphasized that these are the Soviet-era helicopters.
On April 13, the United States announced an $800 million aid package to Ukraine, which included 11 Soviet-era Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters.
At the same time, the United States confirmed its intention to be handing over helicopters to Ukraine even before the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
This regarded the aircrafts belonging to the Afghan Air Force. At that time, it was noted that within the framework of American military assistance, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should be receiving six Mi-17-B5 and Mi-8MTV transport helicopters.
Poland had also handed over almost all the spare parts and ammunition for MiG-29 fighter aircraft to Ukraine. Due to this, Ukraine has the opportunity to restore its combat capability.
