The SSU military counterintelligence officers used a drone to throw grenades at the Russian anti-drone Silok-01 system.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported that the 13th Main Directorate of the Department of Military Counterintelligence operators had worked on the target.
Ukrainian counterintelligence discovered a carefully disguised electronic warfare system in one of the destroyed houses in the Donetsk region.
On the Russian electronic warfare system Silok-01 Ukrainian fighters dropped several M430A1 40mm grenades from a drone. Though direct hits were not recorded on the video, presumably, parts of the systems were damaged by shrapnel, and the EW system was disabled.
“Our operators just do extremely precise work with strike drones. So they proved that this other “unique” unit functions exemplary only at landfills,” the SSU says.
The Silok-01 EW system allegedly affects control channels, telemetry and communication mechanisms of the drone. The exact characteristics of the system are unknown.
The manufacturer of the Silok-01 system stated that it automatically detects drones, determines their coordinates, and suppresses them at different ranges of operating frequencies.
This system for combating unmanned aerial vehicles was first presented at the Army-2018 military-technical forum at the Sverdlovsk training ground in Yekaterinburg.
The Silok-01 EW system should provide protection of control posts from unauthorized entry into the area of covering radio-controlled aircraft.
It was reported that Silok is able to suppress UAV equipment at a distance of more than 4km from the place of stay.
This is not the first case of a collision of Ukrainian forces with the Silok-01 electronic warfare system. In September, the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade captured the Silok-01 EW system.
In June of this year, the National Guard`s drone spotted this EW system in the Kharkiv region and then destroyed it.
