The Security Service of Ukraine has located the wreckage of an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile that Russia fired at the Lviv region on the night of January 8-9.

The photo was published on the website of the special service.

Investigators have qualified the use of this weapon against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure as a war crime by the aggressor country.

The missile debris has the status of material evidence and is being prepared for in-depth examination.

  • spare parts from the engine;
  • fragments of the orientation mechanism;
  • nozzles from the platform of the separation unit, etc.

The SSU noted that by attacking Ukrainian civilian targets near the border with the European Union, the Russian leadership tried to destroy the life support infrastructure of the Lviv region in the face of sharply deteriorating weather conditions.

As a reminder, the strike with the Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile took place on January 8 at 23:47.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russians launched the ballistic missile from the Kapustyn Yar test site in the Astrakhan region. It flew at a speed of about 13 thousand kilometers per hour.
