Ukroboronprom has released the specifications of the domestic RK-360 cruise missile of the Neptune-D system, designed for strikes against ground targets.
The concern presented the data at one of the exhibitions.
It was noted that the warhead weight is 260 kg, 110 kg more than in the anti-ship version.
Flight range has also increased significantly: up to 1,000 km in the Neptune-D version versus 280 km in the anti-ship version.
The missile’s dimensions have been increased: length – 6 m without the booster, body diameter – 50 cm.
The navigation system enables flight over complex terrain and route execution without satellite navigation. Guidance against ground targets has also been implemented, although details of this solution were not disclosed.
The increase in the warhead and the change in the guidance system are noticeable from the modification of the missile’s nose section.
An increase in the size of the control surfaces is also noticeable, which improved maneuverability considering the overall increase in its mass.
A representative of the Ukrainian defense ministry, speaking anonymously in August 2023, shared with The War Zone that the long-range Neptune can be launched from the same launcher as the anti-ship version of the cruise missile.
It was recently reported that on the night of September 29, units of the missile forces and artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in coordination with the Navy, struck the Karachev Electrodetal plant in the Bryansk region of Russia.
As a result of the strike, a large-scale fire broke out at the plant.
This may result in a complete halt to the enterprise’s operations for an indefinite period.
