Spain will provide Ukraine with a Lanza LTR-25 tactical early-warning radar manufactured by Indra.

The announcement was published on the official website of the Spanish Council of Ministers.

Under a contract signed between the Spanish Ministry of Defense and Indra, the radar system will be supplied to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The cost of this radar system is estimated at €37 million.

The Lanza LTR-25 is a mobile three-coordinate radar capable of operating in complex electronic warfare environments. Its main advantage is the ability to detect and track not only aircraft but also small, low-observable targets, including drones and cruise missiles.

The radar can be easily transported by C-130 aircraft or trucks, allowing for rapid repositioning and helping to avoid retaliatory strikes.

Its detection range for aerial targets exceeds 450 km, and integration with NATO’s integrated air and missile defense system enables the transmission of target coordinates to air defense units.

The radar operates in the L-band, and its antenna array is phased, enabling high-quality airspace scanning.

The system was developed by Indra (the Lanza series), a company regarded as a pioneer in the development of radar systems for naval vessels as well as ground-based and airborne surveillance systems.

Previously, the Spanish company Indra had already cooperated with Ukraine by supplying systems for civil aviation; however, this time the delivery concerns military equipment.

The transfer of the radar is part of a broader military aid package that also includes surface-to-air missiles and armored vehicles. The deployment of the Lanza LTR-25 will integrate Ukraine’s air defense system into a unified network with modern Western weapons systems.

Spain also uses radar systems of this type to monitor NATO’s eastern flank in Romania. In particular, a similar system has been deployed by a unit of the Spanish Air Force in the Romanian city of Calao.
