The Spanish government has sent a new batch of military aid to Ukraine, including main battle tanks, weapons and special equipment.
The Spanish Ministry of Defense reported on this.
This aid will soon be handed over to the Ukrainian military.
The Spanish aid package for the Ukrainian Defense Forces included 10 Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks, which were repaired and restored at the Santa Barbara Sistemas plant in Seville.
In addition, the Ukrainian military will receive various excavators and a large number of anti-tank missiles.
The Spanish Defense Ministry noted that a new batch of aid would arrive in Poland that weekend, after which it would be delivered to Ukraine.
It is emphasized that appropriate security measures were taken at all stages of the movement of military aid.
With this batch, the total number of Leopard 2A4 tanks that Spain has transferred to Ukraine has reached 20 units. It is noted that the next batch was planned to be delivered in the second half of 2024.
Militarnyi previously reported that Santa Barbara Sistemas had completed the repair of ten Leopard 2A4 tanks that Spain would supply to Ukraine.
The new group of ten tanks is part of the 19 tanks promised by the Spanish government in March 2024.
The repair work was completed in a record three months, and by the end of June, the Leopard tanks were ready for delivery.
At the end of June, the Spanish government transferred the second batch of MIM-104 anti-aircraft guided missiles for the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. The transfer of this type of missile will allow Ukraine to strengthen its ability to provide air defense of cities and civilian infrastructure against constant missile attacks from Russia.
