In October-November 2023, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine introduced four more NATO standards in addition to more than 200 already adopted.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense reported on this.

The following four standards were introduced:

“Education and training for operations in urbanized environments” – standardized training for combat operations in large populated areas.

“NATO Airborne Operations Tactics, Methods and Procedures” – to provide commanders and their staff with guidance on planning, coordinating and executing airborne operations.

“Conducting ground tactical operations” – providing guidance on the planning and execution of measures and tasks to stabilize the situation that may arise within any operation and within any campaign.

The Air and Space Operations – refers to a joint doctrine on the basis of which standard procedures for the use of capabilities in aerospace during joint operations can be formulated.

The Ministry of Defense added that 174 NATO standards have been implemented in the Ukrainian army as part of the NATO-Ukraine Partnership Goals, and implementation of the 106 has been initiated by Ukraine.

“Ukraine has chosen its path: to become a member of the Alliance. Therefore, becoming a member of NATO is one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umierov emphasized during a recent meeting with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Kyiv.

In total, there are 1135 standards in the Alliance, and the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already implemented a quarter of them (24.6%).

As recently as February 2023, there were only 77 standards introduced under the Partnership Goals, but the full-scale war did not stop Ukraine’s integration into the North Atlantic space.

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine emphasizes that the implementation of NATO standards in the security and defense sectors is a priority for Ukraine on its path to NATO membership.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the final resolution for the operation of the newly established “Defense Procurement Agency” State Enterprise.
