A drone operated by Ukraine’s SIGNUM unit destroyed a Russian TOS-1 Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system.
The unit released footage of the strike on its Telegram channel.
The system was hit in the Lyman sector, where it had been shelling Ukrainian defensive positions. According to SIGNUM, bomber drones first forced the vehicle to leave its position, and after it relocated, an FPV drone finished the job.
The vehicle was fitted with additional protection in the form of anti-drone cages. As a result, the FPV drone detonated upon impact with the grilles, and the shaped-charge jet ignited the rockets still in their launch tubes, causing further damage to the system.
Russian forces frequently use the TOS-1A Solntsepyok to destroy light armored vehicles, personnel, and fortifications.
According to the open-source intelligence project Oryx, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces have destroyed, damaged, or captured 33 TOS-1A systems — 24 destroyed, six damaged, and three captured.
Militarnyi previously reported that a strike UAV unit from Ukraine’s 27th Separate Brigade of the National Guard destroyed another Russian TOS-1A Solntsepyok system.
