Ukrainian Special Operations Forces struck two Russian radars.
The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on the official Telegram channel.
Both systems effectively provided air monitoring along the state border and over the Buturlinivka military base.
The fact of a fire in this area, detected by NASA satellites a few days earlier, was reported.
Currently, there is no official confirmation that the satellite recorded fires specifically at the aforementioned sites. However, the “fire activity” coincided in both date and location with the strikes reported by the Special Operations Forces.
According to the Special Operations Forces, the strike hit the P-14F Lena long-range radar.
This station was part of the airspace control system around the Russian Air Force base in Buturlinivka, Voronezh region.
Additionally, the Sopka-2 radar tracking system was destroyed. It was targeted in the village of Harmashivka, in the same region.
Sopka-2 was an element of the continuous airspace control network along the border with Ukraine.
According to the Russians’ plan, these systems were meant to hinder the operations of Ukrainian drones.
However, as emphasized by the Special Operations Forces, they failed in their primary task – protecting their own airspace.
Thus, the strikes by Ukrainian drones on the P-14F Lena and Sopka-2 reduce Russia’s ability to control airspace along the border areas.
This once again demonstrates the effectiveness of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces in conducting asymmetric warfare against Russian military structures.
Similar strikes have previously resulted in Russian losses in radar systems.
