On Friday, Canada announced the provision of a new military aid package to Ukraine.
The value of assistance amounts to 39 million Canadian dollars ($28.9 million).
The Department of National Defence of Canada made the announcement.
The aid package will include both weapons and a contribution to the fund to support Ukraine.
The latest military aid package was announced by Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand during the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
This package should include 40 sniper rifles, 16 radios for tanks and a contribution to the NATO fund to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sniper rifles and ammunition will be supplied by the Canadian company Prairie Gun Works. The value of aid is $2.5 million. It is also provided for the supply of spare parts and accessories for weapons.
New radio stations worth about 2 million for Leopard 2 main battle tanks will be purchased from the L3 Harris company. These armored vehicles have been handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Western countries, which support Ukraine in protecting its territorial integrity and liberating temporarily occupied territories.
Also, a contribution to the NATO fund in the amount of about 34.6 million Canadian dollars will help to supply Ukraine with fuel and other materials. It is planned to purchase up to 3.3 million liters of fuel.
In addition, part of these funds will go to deliver pontoon bridges and NATO medical kits to Ukrainia.
Canada is working closely with NATO members and partners to provide Ukraine with the comprehensive military assistance it needs as fast as possible.
All eight Leopard 2 battle tanks promised by Canada for Ukraine have arrived in Poland. The country also sent instructors to help train Ukrainian tank crews. Canada will also provide Ukraine with a significant amount of assault rifles and ammunition for them.
