Slovakia has already pledged to conduct repairs of Ukrainian military equipment and now also expands this commitment to modernization.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Jaroslav Nad.
For this task Slovakia has selected the KONSTRUKTA-Defence repair plant in the city of Moldava nad Bodvou, TARS reports.
“We’ve already prepared to repair and modernise several dozen vehicles for Ukraine but I won’t provide any details,” Nad said during a visit to the plant.
Nad also stressed that equipment repair and modernization will happen according to the contract signed taking into account Ukraine’s wishes.
The Slovak Minister of Defense announced that the number of employees of the KONSTRUKTA-Defence repair plant will increase from 60 to about 150.
The KONSTRUKTA-Defence repair plant offers innovative designs and expertise in the development and testing of weapons, electronic systems, special platforms for wheeled and tracked vehicles, production and maintenance of military equipment.
KONSTRUKTA-Defence repair plant is a manufacturer of Zuzana ACS, which Slovakia supplies to Ukraine.
In mid-May, the media reported that the Ukrainian artillerymen were undergoing training with these self-propelled howitzers. Negotiations are also underway to purchase these ACS.
The exact terms of the contract and the number of units are yet to be known.
