The Slovak company Koval Systems has officially launched mass production of the new Eva self-propelled howitzers.
Future Army reported on this.
The company is currently manufacturing superstructure components for the first batch of 16 vehicles.
The project’s transition to serial production was made possible by an order for Malaysia, as well as plans by the Ministry of Defence of Slovakia to re-equip its own units.
Konštrukta Defence developed the Eva self-propelled howitzer as a lighter and more mobile version of the well-known Zuzana 2 howitzer.
It is equipped with a 155 mm gun with a 52-caliber barrel and is based on the Tatra 815-7 wheeled chassis. The maximum firing range is 41 km.
The vehicle has a total weight of around 22 tons and a crew of three. This allows the system to be deployed in under 2 minutes and easily transported by aircraft such as the C-130 Hercules.
