At the IDET-2025 international exhibition, the Slovak company EVPÚ Defense presented the TURRA 30 V10 combat module with a domestic active protection system (APS).

This was reported by a correspondent for Militarnyi.

The new Slovak TURRA 30 V10 combat module is designed for installation on light armored vehicles.

The module’s main armament consists of a 30×173 mm Bushmaster cannon and a twin 7.62 mm machine gun. In addition, the combat module is equipped with two Spike LR2 anti-tank missiles. Target detection and guidance are carried out using an optical station with day and night channels.

The module’s basic armor protection complies with STANAG 4569 Level 1 and provides protection against non- armor-piercing 7.62×51 caliber bullets with the possibility of reinforcement with additional armor to Level 3, depending on customer requirements. The weight of the module varies from 2 to 2.5 tons, depending on the level of protection.

As a representative of EVPÚ Defense explained to Militarnyi, theoretically, the armor can be increased to Level 4, which would allow it to withstand 14.5×114 armor-piercing bullets. However, this would lead to a significant increase in weight, which would be incompatible with the military’s typical requirements for the buoyancy of armored vehicles.

The TURRA 30 V10 combat module is fully remote-controlled and operated by the commander and gunner, who are located inside the armored vehicle’s hull under the module. The commander can duplicate all of the gunner’s functions except for launching anti-tank missiles. In addition, a “hunter-killer” function has been implemented, which allows the combat module to automatically follow a target detected by the commander.

The module is equipped with a combined situational awareness complex consisting of several systems. Ultraviolet sensors for detecting anti-tank missile launches are installed directly on the combat module, which record the flash when the engines are started. A shot detection system is also installed, which reacts to the characteristic sound and flash and allows determining the exact location of the fire. In addition, laser radiation detectors are to be installed on the platform body, on which the combat module will be mounted, to detect the operation of laser guidance systems and rangefinders of enemy vehicles.

To protect armored vehicles from guided missiles, rocket-propelled grenades, and drones, the combat module has an integrated HARPIA active protection system, which was also developed by EVPÚ Defense. A radar system is used for detection, and when a threat is detected, the KAZ fires one of six fragmentation munitions, which neutralizes the enemy weapon by detonating.

According to a company representative, although the HARPIA KAZ is designed to intercept all types of anti-tank missiles, rocket-propelled grenades, and kamikaze drones, it is being demonstrated for the first time and has not yet undergone a full cycle of testing.

Eight launchers for Israeli SPEAR drones are installed behind the module, which can be used in strike and reconnaissance modifications. According to the plan, they will be controlled by a separate operator, who will also be located inside the vehicle, rather than by the commander or gunner.

The TURRA 30 combat module series exists in numerous versions, which are used in both Soviet and post-Soviet weapons, as well as Western ones, and is the standard combat module of the Slovak army.

In particular, the previous generation TURRA 30 modules will be installed on Patria 8×8 armored personnel carriers manufactured for the Slovakian army.
