The Slovak government has agreed on another package of military assistance to Ukraine.
This was announced by Rastislav Kacher, the Slovak Foreign Minister, during a joint briefing with his Ukranian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.
“We will continue to support you practically in your struggle. Yesterday, our government approved a new defense aid package. These are ammunition, large calibers, also for fighters, warm things, and other equipment,” he said.
The minister didn’t specify ammunition types and quantities.
At the same time, Dmytro Kuleba thanked Minister Kacher for his support of Ukraine by Slovakia and mentioned 30 IFVs transferred at the end of November to Ukraine by Slovakia.
Slovakia transferred them to Ukraine as part of the so-called “circular exchange” between Germany and Slovakia.
To replace the IFVs, Bratislava will receive 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany. Along with armored vehicles, spare parts will be received and personnel training will take place. In addition, the tanks will be upgraded before being sent to Slovakia.
Slovakia recently supplied Ukraine with another Zuzana 2 wheeled self-propelled artillery system. Thus, Ukraine has already received seven of the eight 155mm ACSs that it ordered in June this year.
Two more Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns were transferred to Ukraine in October.
In addition, during the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, which was held in Bucharest, it was about investments in Soviet-era weapons systems used in Ukraine.
In particular, NATO is discussing investments in enterprises in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria to resume the production of Soviet-era rounds for the Ukrainian artillery arsenal.
