Finnish Sisu XA-180 wheeled armored personnel carriers have entered service with the Ukrainian Naval Infantry.

The military showcased interaction with armored vehicles during exercises on the training ground to improve the mastery of weapons.

The personnel of one of the divisions of the Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi 36th Separate Marine Brigade and the 1st Separate Naval Infantry Battalion took part in the training.

Marines practiced storming a building and destroying the enemy’s firing points with armored vehicles and hand-held jet infantry flamethrowers of Ukraine-made RPV-16.

According to the legend of the exercise, the Ukrainian military on the Sisu XA-180 armored personnel carrier advanced to the firing line, where the landing of personnel and fire contact with the hypothetical enemy took place.

At this time, the flamethrowers effectively worked through the conventional position of the enemy with several shots with the RPV-16.

Sisu XA-180 armored personnel carriers were first seen in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in September. The Ukrainian military released their photos on their social networks.

This equipment was supposedly received by the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the reserves of the Finnish army as part of one of the packages of military aid to Ukraine.

XA-180 is a modern Finnish armored personnel carrier developed by the Sisu in the early 1980s at the order of the Finnish government. The XA-180 armored personnel carrier is the basic version, it is armed with a large-caliber 12.7 mm machine gun. The vehicle uses a modified Sisu SA-150 commercial truck base.

The body of the armored personnel carrier is welded from steel armor plates and has a thickness of 10 mm in the frontal part. The driver and commander are placed in the front part.

The motor-transmission compartment is located in the middle section of the vehicle. In the aft part of the armored personnel carrier there is a landing compartment and a double door for soldiers. Each side of the armored personnel carrier has embrasures for firing from personal small arms and observation windows made of armored glass.

Serial production of the XA-180 has been ongoing since 1983, and over this time, approximately 1,000 vehicles of this type were produced in various modifications.
