The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained a Russian military intelligence agent who was installing repeaters for online control of Russian drones and missiles in northern Ukraine.

This was reported by the SSU press service.

“The SSU military counterintelligence detained another agent of the Russian military intelligence (better known as the GRU) in the Sumy region. The suspect adjusted enemy attacks in the region, as well as provided stable communication for Russian drones and missiles – she installed appropriate repeaters in the region,” the SSU said.

The agent was a 34-year-old resident of Konotop, who came to the attention of Russian special services when she was looking for “easy money” on Telegram channels.

After being recruited, the woman purchased radio navigation equipment with Russian intelligence money and configured it to the parameters needed to control drones. The agent looked for abandoned buildings, entered them, and installed the equipment on the roofs.

Using such devices, the invaders received stable communication for their drones and missiles, which allowed them to bypass the Ukrainian electronic warfare system.

It was also established that she sent photos and coordinates of local military units to the Russian curator, and near one of the regional air bases she set up a “video trap” – a 4G camera hidden in the area with online broadcasting.

The SSU officers exposed the enemy accomplice, documented the stages of her intelligence activity and detained her. At the same time, the SSU Special Forces deactivated the spy devices and secured the base points of the Defense Forces units.

During the searches, six smartphones were seized from the detainee, which she used to communicate secretly with her curator.

The SSU investigators served the suspect a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – high treason committed under martial law. The offender is in custody without the right to be released on bail and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Recently, the SSU Military Counterintelligence detained a Russian agent who was spying on the combat aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in western Ukraine. The enemy’s task was carried out by a 20-year-old resident of Khmelnytskyi region, who came to the attention of Russian special services when he was looking for easy money on Telegram channels.

To do this, the man installed hidden minicameras near air bases with online broadcasting and remote access for Russian special services.
