A large explosion occurred in the area of temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
According to Militarnyi, the fact of the explosion was also reported by local media.
According to unverified information from Russian sources, the cause of the explosion could have been a drone that was shot down.
“In the Kara-Koba area, according to preliminary data, a UAV was shot down. There was an explosion on the ground, grass and shrubs caught fire. Fire crews are already on the spot, they began to extinguish the fire,” stated the so-called governor of Sevastopol, Michael Razvozhaev.
Other sources, such as the Telegram channel “ChP/Sevastopol,” reported that the explosion was caused by the utilization of old ammunition.
Other similar sources of information shared the same information.
Judging by the placement of a column of smoke, the explosion could have occurred at a military facility near Sevastopol.
This object is most likely 3413rd Engineering Missile Station, military unit No.13189.
The exact cause of the explosion is currently unknown. There may be several options: elimination of old ammunition, explosion due to negligence, or destruction of the object by drone.
It should be noted that the work of air defense in the area of Sevastopol was not reported.
Later, the so-called governor, Razvozhaev, said that the drone was drowned out by electronic warfare.
He released a video of the crash site without showing the wreckage of the drone.
Recall that, according to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, on July 28, 2023, an ammunition depot exploded in Kazachya Bay near Sevastopol.
In addition, explosions were heard in the Dzhankoi district on July 24. It is known that an ammunition depot at an airfield near the village of Vesele detonated.
